My interests as a composer are quite varied. I frequently treat music as a metaphor for movement through space, forms in nature or the shear exhilaration of being human. In Quercus (meaning Oak), for example, three independent motives spring like branches from a single twelve-note theme.
I am also fascinated by the potential sound has to create counterpoint to visual media and with the creative power of the collective mind. My portfolio consequently includes many interactive works that bring together both of these elements. Such projects include Three Pieces on the Shapes of a Pair, a collaboration with choreographer Lily Sloan, and Recycling: A Concerto for Amplified Recyclables and Audience featuring the animation of Michael Morgan. You can access sound and video files of these and other works on my Media page.
I am always looking for opportunities to create new works, collaborate, perform and teach so I would love to hear from you.
